Deacon Godfrey Leander Ray of 1212 Third Street, SE, Moultrie, Georgia, died Saturday, April 26, 2025, at the Archbold Medical Center in Thomasville, Georgia.

The funeral service will be held Saturday, May 3, 2025, at 11:00 AM, in the sanctuary of the Little Rock Baptist Church in Arabi, Georgia.  The burial will follow in the churchyard cemetery.

Deacon Godfrey Leander Ray was a man whose life was a testament to love, kindness, and dedication. Born on August 17, 1958, he was the cherished son of the beloved Deacon C. R. Ray Sr. and Mother Luecinda Barrett Ray, both of whom preceded him in death.  From a young age, Godfrey was guided by strong family values and a deep sense of community.

Godfrey received his education through the public school system of Crisp County, where he developed a love for learning that he carried throughout his life. His early commitment to faith was   evident when he joined the Little Rock Baptist Church, where he served with a willing heart as an ordained deacon. His devotion to his church was matched by his dedication to his family and community.

Known for his loving nature, Godfrey was a man of many talents and interests. He was a protector and provider, always working tirelessly to support his family. His love for grilling and cooking was well-known, and he often shared these passions with family and friends. He enjoyed listening to his favorite music and watching westerns on TV, but his true joy came from spending quality time with his family. His presence brought laughter and joy to every gathering, and he was often the heart and soul of  family events.

Godfrey's loving spirit and dedication have left an indelible mark on all who were fortunate enough to know him. His memory will be cherished by his extensive family and wide circle of friends who held him dear to their hearts. Though he is deeply missed, his    legacy of love and kindness will continue to inspire those who   carry his memory forward.

Godfrey's passing on April 26, 2025, at the Archbold Medical  Center in Thomasville, Georgia, leaves a profound void in the lives of those who knew him. He leaves cherished memories to his loyal and devoted wife, Brenda Ray of Moultrie, Georgia; his  accomplished daughters: Marqueal Thomas (Joe) of Moultrie, Georgia, Perica Paul of Warner Robins, Georgia, Lashundria Ray of Valdosta, Georgia, and Keishondra Ray of Moultrie, Georgia; his beloved grandchildren: Ja'Quan Thomas, Mar'Tayshia Wilson, Jada Pace, Ma'Kayla Thomas, Da'Marco McNeal, Na'Davia Spradley, Ashton Paul, Payton Anthony, and Messiah Martin; his great-grandchildren: Jariah Thomas, Chayce Harvey, and Dallas Jaceon Cole; his cherished and supportive siblings:  Josephine Knight of Palm Bay, Florida, Steward Charles Ray, Jr. of Cordele, Georgia, Nelsa Singleton of Palm Bay, Florida, Reverend Lorenda Ray (fiancé Fannie) of Cordele, Georgia, Betty Brown of Jacksonville, Florida, Marilyn Harper of Cordele, Georgia, Dr. Jennifer Ray of Savannah, Georgia, Deacon Ronnie (Minister Sheryl) Ray, and Mr. Bobby (Tomico) Ray of Cordele, Georgia; his in-laws, Cassandra Barrett (Wilmon) and Malcolm Kellogg (Asilene) both of Cordele, Georgia, Gloria Brewer of Lithonia, Georgia, Johnny J.
