Obituary

Deacon Dan Colson of 496 Lamar Road, Americus, Georgia died Saturday, January 8, 2022.

The graveside funeral service will be held Wednesday, January 12, 2022 at 11:00 AM at the Bethel Cemetery in Cordele, Georgia. Everyone in attendance is asked to please wear a mask and to practice social distancing.

The late Deacon Dan Colson was born on January 28, 1952 to the  parentage of Deacon Willie B. Colson, Sr. and Mrs. Dannie Mae Slade Colson.

Dan, affectionately known as "Dan The Man", was educated in the Crisp County Public School System and graduated from A. S. Clark High School.

At an early age, Dan joined the St. James Baptist Church, where he served as an usher, choir member, and on the deacon board for many years. He later joined the Beautiful Zion Baptist Church where he faithfully served as Chairman of the Deacon Board for a number of years.

Dan was employed by Middle Flint Council on Aging as the Maintenance Supervisor and had worked with the agency for 32 years. He was also the owner of Colson Lawn Service, LLC.

His hobbies were spending time with his family, joking, watching WWE Wresting, and attending drag races.

On Saturday, January 08, 2022, Dan completed his life's journey while doing one of his favorite things to do, lawn manicuring.

Precious and life-long memories of Dan "The Man" Colson will live on through his devoted and supportive wife of 34 years, Mrs. Charlie Mae Holt Colson; his loving daughters, Mrs. Tonya Sparks (Bubba), Mrs. Matoshia Spears (Antonio), Ms. Katrina Colson (Kema), Ms. Pamela M. Harvey, and Mrs. Kimberly Barrett (Eric, a.k.a., the son Dan never had); ten grandchildren, Tyeshia Alexander and ShenCuria Sanders of San Antonio, Texas, Dejour Colson and Duran Brown, Jr. of Cordele, Georgia, Ladarian Merritt of Albany, Georgia, Mattendrick Gibson of Orlando, Florida, Kierston Harvey of Atlanta, Georgia, Zakiya Colson, Keyonna Walker, and Kaylon Harvey of Americus, Georgia; three great grandchildren, Harmony, Aubrey, and Amir; two loving sisters, Mrs. Brenda Fedrick (Greg) of Cordele, Georgia and Ms. Emma Jean Colson of Albany, Georgia; and one  beloved brother, Mr. Willie Colson, Jr. (Vanester) of Cordele, Georgia; his in-laws, Ms. Ruby Colson of Cordele, Georgia, Evangelist Levonia Lockett (Raymond) of Leesburg, Georgia, Mrs. Gussie Franklin (Richard) of Americus, Georgia, Mr. Charles Holt (Daphne) of Americus, Georgia, Mr. George Holt (Patricia) of Americus, Georgia, and Mrs. Carolina Pittman (Eric) of Americus, Georgia and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends also survive.
