Deacon Gregory Bernard Pickens of 104 South 13th Street, Cordele, Georgia died Thursday, July 11, 2024 at the Crisp Regional Hospital in Cordele, Georgia.
The funeral service will be held Saturday, July 20, 2024 at 3:00 PM in the sanctuary of the Odom Grove Baptist Church in Cordele, Georgia. The burial will follow at the Bethel Cemetery in Cordele, Georgia.
A humble and loving spirit was welcomed to this world on December 12, 1969 when our beloved Deacon Gregory Bernard Pickens was welcomed to this world. He was born in Cordele, Georgia to Mr. Fred Williams and Ms. Willie Mae Royal.
He received his education from the Crisp County School System. He was a graduate of Crisp County High School.
He accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Savior. Deacon Pickens faithfully served as a member of the Odum Grove Missionary Baptist Church. With a servant's heart, he faithfully served as an ordained deacon and member of the choir. He was also a member of the OGMBC Men of Purpose.
A loving and faithful husband and father, he treasured the many moments shared with his family. He never met a stranger and he was always willing to help those in need.
On Thursday, July 11, 2024, he completed his earthly assignment and while our hearts are sad, we rejoice that he is resting with the Lord. His beloved mother, Ms. Willie Mae Royal, preceded him in death.
His life, his love and the joy he imparted will forever be cherished by his loving and devoted wife, Mrs. Evelyn W. Pickens of Cordele, Georgia; his loving and devoted children, Ms. Shonta Harvey of Warner Robins, Georgia, Ms. Jessica Watson of Cordele, Georgia, and Ms. Myia Watson of Belle Glade, Florida; 10 grandchildren; his beloved father, Mr. Fred Williams of Cordele, Georgia; his loving sisters, Ms. Marlena Pickens of Atlanta, Georgia and Ms. Jestine Pickens of Cordele, Georgia; his beloved brother, Mr. Anthony (Linda) Pickens of Cordele, Georgia; four sisters-in-law; one brother-in-law; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many sorrowing friends to include the Deacons of the Odum Grove Missionary Baptist Church.
