Deacon Dennis Baxter Hamilton of 641 Blacksmith Road, Desoto, Georgia died Tuesday, December 21, 2021 at the Phoebe Sumter Medical Center in Americus, Georgia.
The graveside funeral service will be held Tuesday, December 28, 2021 at 12:00 Noon at the St. John Cemetery in Leslie, Georgia. Everyone in attendance is asked to please wear a mask and to practice social distancing.
With love and joy, Deacon Green S. Hamilton and Mrs. Dorothy Mae Shine Hamilton welcomed the birth of a son. Dennis Baxter Hamilton was born January 19, 1958 in Sumter County, Georgia.
Educated in the public schools of Sumter County, he was a 1976 Honor Graduate of Union High School. He continued his education at Georgia Southwestern State University. While in school he was a member of the Farmer's Association, Future Farmers of America, and BETA Club.
A faithful member of the St. John Baptist Church, Deacon Hamilton served as Secretary of the Deacon Board and Superintendent of the Sunday School. He was also the Sound System Tech and videographer for the church.
Dennis loved family and he enjoyed creating memories with his family and friends. He worked for Innovative Senior Solutions for a number of years and while he was a dedicated farmer and handyman, he was also an expert Spades player.
On Tuesday, December 21, 2021, our beloved transitioned from this earthly home to a brand new home.
He leaves cherished memories to his loving and devoted wife of 37 years, Mrs. Aundra Berryhill Hamilton of DeSoto, Georgia; his loving and devoted children, Ms. Jalesa Hamilton of Americus, Georgia, Mrs. De'Netra Roberts (Gamal) of Warner Robins, Georgia, and Mr. Dennis Denzel Hamilton of DeSoto, Georgia; his beloved grandchildren, Ayden Javon Morgan, Jaycen Levi Roberts, Kenzi Déor Hamilton, Logan Denver Hamilton, Melanie Roberts, Gamal Roberts Jr., Gabrielle Roberts, and Jasiyah Roberts; his loving sisters, Mrs. Ossie Lundy (Bishop James) of Leslie, Georgia, Mrs. Mary Jackson (Henry) of Detroit, Michigan, Mrs. Bettye Deriso (Arthur) of Desoto, Georgia, Mrs. Jacqueline Halton (Henry) of Harker Heights, Texas, Mrs. Regina Watts (Ricarter) of Albany, Georgia, Mrs. Charlotte Wilson (J. Kirby) of Ft. Washington, Maryland, and Mrs. Lois Walker of Sicklerville, New Jersey; his aunts and uncles, Mr. Gentle Lee Hamilton of Miami, Florida, Mrs. Minnie Jewel King (James) of Orlando, Florida, Mrs. Imogene Wright of Jersey City, New Jersey, Mr. Charles Berryhill (Martha) of Coconut Grove, Florida, Mr. John Berryhill (Nancy) of Desoto, Georgia, Mr. James Berryhill of St. Mary's, Georgia, and Mrs. Ruby Bailey of Detroit, Michigan; his brothers-in-law, Mr. Eddie Berryhill (Marilyn) and Mr. James Biggins (Wanda) of Americus, Georgia, Mr. Tony Rogers (Tammy) of Coconut Creek, Florida, and Mr. Willie Rogers (Ethel) of Miami, Florida; his sisters-in-law, Mrs. Helen Reed Hamilton of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Mrs. Pamela Biggins of Americus, Georgia, and Mrs. Nora Williams of Riverdale, Georgia; a host of special nieces and nephews, cousins, and friends, to include his godparents, Deacon Sammy Lee & Mrs. Fannie Mae Mumphery & Family of Cordele, Georgia; his devoted cousins, Mr. Vernon Dariso of San Diego, California and Mr. Bernard King of Orlando, Florida; special friends, Mr. Lonnie Floyd of Americus, Georgia, Mr. Carl Walker of Dublin, Georgia, Mr. Roscoe Robinson of Albany, Georgia, BJ's Restaurant Staff of Cordele, Georgia, and the Berryhill, Biggins, and Sims Families.
