The union of the late Deacon Willie B. Colson, Sr. and the late Mother Dannie Mae Slade Colson was wonderfully blessed with a son on July 12, 1935.  Named after his father, Willie B. Colson, Jr., was born in Cordele, Crisp County, Georgia.

"Junior", as he was affectionately known to his family and friends was introduced to the Lord, Jesus Christ at a very early age.  He was baptized and became a member of the St. James Baptist Church.  His spiritual foundation was strong and he would continue to serve in many capacities of the church.  He was ordained as a deacon and at the time of his passing, he was serving as Chairman of the Board of Deacons.

For many years he was employed by the City of Cordele.  After many years of dedicated service, he retired as the Supervisor of the City of Cordele Gas Department.  After retirement, he decided to run for a political office.  He was elected to serve as a Commissioner for the City of Cordele Ward 2.

Any opportunity he had to meet or conversate with people was always a plus for him.  He loved being the Owner/CEO of Colson Recycling (more commonly called "his can business").  He was also the prior owner of Colson Trucking Company.

On Sunday, January 7, 2024, this servant, was given peace from the cares and toils of this life.  Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by two grandchildren, Avenia and Sebastian; and his siblings, Willie, Dan, and Emma.

Special memories of his life and his love will forever be cherished by his loving, faithful, and devoted wife, Mother Vanester Corbin Colson of Cordele, Georgia; his beloved and caring son, Reverend Ivory Joe (Dorothy) Corbin of Cordele, Georgia; his beloved grandchildren, Ms. Yolanda Corbin of Jacksonville, Florida, Mr. Jarrett (Dayzha) Harper of Yucca Valley, California; six great grandchildren;  two great, great grandchildren; a loving sister, Mrs. Brenda (Greg) Fredrick of Cordele, Georgia; two sisters-in-law, Mrs. Ruby Colson of  Cordele, Georgia and Mrs. Charlie Mae Colson of Americus, Georgia;  his special cousins, Ms. Linda White and Ms. Diane White of Orlando, Florida, Ms. Margie Hamm of Atlanta, Georgia, and Ms. Bobbie James of Huntsville, Alabama; a host of nieces and nephews; other relatives and many sorrowing friends.
