Mrs. Corine Perry Peterson of 1116 South 8th Street, Cordele, Georgia died Thursday, October 5, 2023 at the Augusta University Hospital in Augusta, Georgia.

The funeral service will be held Friday, October 13, 2023 at 2:00 PM in the chapel of the J. W. Williams Funeral Home in Cordele, Georgia.  The burial will follow at the Bethel Cemetery in Cordele, Georgia.

Everyone entering the funeral home for visitations or services is required to wear a mask and to practice social distancing.  A mask must be worn throughout the stay.  You must supply your own mask.

Our beloved, Corine Perry Peterson, was welcomed to this world by her loving parents, Robert and Maude Nelson Perry on May 23, 1940.  Born in Worth County, she received her education from the public school system.  She loved school but had to withdraw early so that she could help in the fields.  However, her mother knowing that importance of education, home schooled her.

Her willingness to excel was evident from the very beginning.  She would go on to become a nurse.  With love and dedication, she served patients and families of the Cordele - Crisp County area for over 40 years.

"Mama" loved the Lord, Jesus Christ.  She served Him at the Cordele Church of God In Christ.  She was a member of the Pastor's Aid Committee and the Mothers Board.  It was not uncommon to hear her telling others about His love and how good He had been to her.

While she enjoyed many things, spending with her family and friends at any family gathering made her the happiest.  She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the American Legion Post #542.  When not learning how to maneuver through Facebook, she enjoyed fishing, shopping, and traveling.

On Thursday, October 5, 2023, our beloved transitioned from this life.  She is preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Maude; a grandson, Leonard Patrick, Jr.; her sisters, Mary Louise Bivins and Linda Faye Freeman; and her brothers, Willie Perry, Robert Lee   Perry, Curtis Perry, and Kenneth Perry. Her grandparents, Christopher & Lizzie Nelson and Joe & Edna Miller, also precede her in death.

Her journey will forever be cherished by her loving and devoted children, Maurice (Irene) Chaniel of St. Petersburg, Florida, Deborah G. Williams of Cordele, Georgia, Cheryl (Jason) Murray of Clearwater, Florida, Alex Chaniel of St. Petersburg, Florida, Valarie (Nick) Taylor of Orlando, Florida, Herbert Wright and Katonya McHenry of Cordele, Georgia, Sandra  Lunsford of Valdosta, Georgia, Valeria Peterson and Lateaco (Jewell) Powell of Cordele, Georgia, Jeremy (Chantel) Chaniel of St. Petersburg, Florida, Ciara Chaniel (Antonio) Evans of Cordele, Georgia, and Lillian Lewis of Raeford, North Carolina; 20 loving and devoted grandchildren; 51 great grandchildren; her beloved brothers, David (Geraldine) Perry and Harold (Patricia) Perry of Cordele, Georgia and Joshua Freeman of Brandon, Florida; two sisters-in-law; two brothers-in-law; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many sorrowing friends, to include her special friends,  Ingrid Byrom of Miami, Florida, Marie Hill of Columbus, Georgia, Mary Rawls of Cordele, Georgia, Lynda Sims of Americus, Georgia, and her caregiver, Ashley Stillwell of Cordele, Georgia.
