United States Navy Veteran, Mr. Christopher Maurice Poole of Douglasville, Georgia, formerly of Americus, Georgia, died Monday, September 8, 2025, at Emory University Hospital in Atlanta, Georgia.

The funeral service will be held Saturday, September 20, 2025, at 10:00 AM at the Antioch Church Cemetery in Plains, Georgia.

Christopher Maurice Poole, born on May 31, 1969, in Sumter County, Georgia, passed away on September 8, 2025.  He was the beloved son of the late Leonard Poole and Annie Inez Majors Dodson.

Christopher was a proud graduate of Americus High School in Americus, Georgia, and furthered his education by completing his A+ certification. Early in life, he found his spiritual home at the Mount Olive Missionary Baptist Church in Americus, Georgia, under the leadership of Reverend Dr. H. C. Wilson.

Christopher honorably served in the United States Navy, where he exemplified bravery and commitment. He earned numerous accolades, including the Navy Achievement Medal, Good Conduct Medal (2), Navy Battle "E" Award (2), Navy Unit Commendation, Kuwait Liberation  Medal, Sea Service Ribbon, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, and the National Defense Service Medal.

A lifetime fan of the Dallas Cowboys, Christopher also enjoyed the WNBA and was an enthusiastic baseball player. His love for community was evident through his role as a Youth League Soccer coach and as an instructor for the McGee Chapel Drill Team in Houston, Texas. He found peace in fishing and cherished the time spent on the water.

Christopher was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents, Elijah Poole & Savannah Finch Poole and Hosea & Estella Hayes Majors. In his passing, we remember a man who was dedicated to his family, his faith, and his country. His memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.

Christopher is survived by his devoted wife, Goldie Michelle Hurts Poole of Douglasville, Georgia; his cherished children: Jasmine Jackson (Jaylen) of  Houston, Texas, Ariana Poole of San Marcos,  Texas, Trinity Poole of Douglasville, Georgia, and Justin Smith of  Jacksonville, Florida; his adored grandchildren: Maliyah Mayes, Ayven Mayes, Serenity Jackson, Malani Smith, and one on the way; his sisters: Tammy Hamilton (Kenneth) of Americus, Georgia, Kimberly Jackson (Danny Heath) of Ellaville, Georgia, Barbara Poole and Elizabeth A. Poole of Jacksonville, Florida, Dorothy J. Dodson of Lanham, Maryland, and Patricia Mayes (Carlton) of Americus, Georgia; his brothers: Marcus Majors of Americus, Georgia, John A. Poole of Jacksonville, Florida, Kendrick Thomas (Benyette) of Stockbridge, Georgia, and Michael Dodson of Americus, Georgia; his aunts and uncles: Evelyn Raines, Alice Faye Bridges, and Betty Jean Dodson of Americus, Georgia, Florine (Reverend Ricky) Covington of Montgomery, Alabama, and Mary (Reverend Tony) Thompson of Riverdale, Georgia; his nieces and nephews, a special great nephew, Jayden K. Sims; six brothers-in-law, his special friends, Mandrell Gwyn (Erica) of Buford, Georgia, Ladynn & Dianne Summerville of Griffin, Georgia, Winston Darlington of Kissimmee,  Texas, Jim & Joanne Douin of Tallahassee, Florida, and Johnny Griffin of Americus, Georgia a host of cousins, other relatives, and many  sorrowing friends, including his Park Place Family of Atlanta, Georgia.
