Obituary

Mr. Charlie C. Sneed of 133 Taver Street, Desoto, Georgia died Saturday, November 11, 2023 at the Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital in Albany, Georgia.

The funeral service will be held Monday, November 20, 2023 at 11:00 AM in the sanctuary of the Antioch Baptist Church in Desoto, Georgia.  The burial will follow in the churchyard cemetery.

On January 1, 1936, Andrew and Mary L. Jones Snead were blessed with the birth of a son.   Born in Sumter County, Georgia, he was named, Charlie C. Sneed.

He accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior at the Zion Hope Baptist Church.  Educated in the public school system of Lee County, he also attended Chokee Jr. High School.

Known as a jokester, he always enjoyed making people laugh.  He was known for always voicing his opinion and never had a problem sharing his thoughts on any subject.

Charlie will be remembered for his love of farming, his ability to keep up with the happenings in the news and politics.  He always drove a Chevy and loved old school cars.  His favorite pastimes were watching television and reading Hot Rod magazines.

On Saturday, November 11, 2023 he transitioned from this life to life eternal.  Along with his parents, he is  preceded in death by his wife, Lucy Bell "Honey" Halcomb Sneed.  His siblings, Jessie Pearl Walker,   Garner Snead, Ossie Lee Rackely, Roosevelt Snead, Thelma Hubburt, Gladys Singleton, Lee Andrew Snead, Helen Snead, Verdelle Kearce, and Willie Snead, also precede him in death.

Memories of his life will forever be cherished by his loving family:  his sons,  Otis Holcomb of Columbus, Georgia and Minister Nile (Alice) Yearby, Sr. of    Americus, Georgia; four beloved grandchildren, Cheryl Holcomb of Columbus, Georgia, Nile E. Yearby, Jr. of Americus, Georgia, Latauria Jackson of Washington, DC and Jaquise J. Yearby of Americus, Georgia; two great grandchildren, Shykayla Jackson and Elijah  Jackson; his brother, Robert (Frances J.) Snead of Hartwell, Georgia; a host of nieces and nephews, to include,  Robert A. (Felicia D.) Snead of Powder Springs, Georgia; Yvette A, (Robert A.) Daniel of  Lithonia, Georgia and Colleen A. Snead of Lithia Springs, Georgia; a host of cousins, other relatives and many sorrowing friends.
