Mr. Charles Jonathan Tookes of 709 Sunset Drive, Americus, Georgia died Thursday, September 15, 2022 at the Phoebe-Sumter Medical Center in Americus, Georgia.
The funeral service will be held Saturday, September 24, 2022 at 3:00 PM in the sanctuary of Whole Truth International Ministry in Americus, Georgia. The burial will follow at the Eastview Cemetery in Americus, Georgia. Everyone in attendance is asked to please wear a mask and to practice social distancing.
Charles Jonathan Tookes was born March 15, 1977 in Sumter County, Georgia. He was born to Mrs. Annie Woods Tookes and the late Mr. Henry Maddox.
He received his education from the public school system and was a graduate of the Americus High School. At an early age he united with the Countyline Baptist Church.
He enjoyed the sport of Football, whether playing or watching it on television. He also enjoyed dancing.
On Thursday, September 15, 2022 the Lord in His infinite wisdom called our beloved home. Along with his father he is preceded in death by his grandparents, Mrs. Ruby Woods, Mrs. Essie Tookes, and Mr. O. C. Woods; his aunt and uncles, Mrs. Helen Mercer, Mr. Henry Woods, and Mr. Lenard Tookes; and a niece, Miss Precious Tookes.
Memories of his life will forever be cherished by his loving and caring family: his mother, Mrs. Annie Woods Tookes of Americus, Georgia; his wife, Mrs. Cherronda W. Tookes of Americus, Georgia; his sister, Ms. Ann Dean of Americus, Georgia; his brother, Mr. Logan (Sharon) Tookes of Americus, Georgia; his aunts and uncles, Mrs. Bobbie (Robert) McCoy, Mrs. Geneva (Roy) Mayes, Ms. Carolyn Davis, Ms. Anna Woods, Ms. Vanessa Tookes, Mr. Eugene (Kathy) Tookes, Mr. Raymond (Patricia) Tookes, Mr. Edward Tookes, Mr. Bobby Tookes, and Mr. Sammie Mercer all of Americus, Georgia; two great aunts, Mrs. Clara Daniels and Mrs. Queen Gary both of Americus, Georgia; his nieces and nephews, Travis, Shaking, Logan, Jamekia, Danielle, Ny'asia, Laporsha, Likerria, Maya, Preston, and Rashard; his god sisters, Ms. Lakedera Wright, Ms. Laquasha Robinson, Ms. LaTrena Bess and Ms. Michelle Jackson all of Americus, Georgia; a special girlfriend, Ms. Lisa Wilborn and her children, Deon, Camarion, Maila, and Shimere; a host of cousins, other relatives and many sorrowing friends.
