Mr. Cephus Turner of St. Petersburg, Florida formerly of Dooly County, Georgia passed away Sunday, September 29, 2024, in St. Petersburg, Florida.
The funeral service will be held Saturday, October 5, 2024, at 3:30 PM in the Little Poplar Spring Baptist Church sanctuary in Byromville, Georgia. The burial will follow in the churchyard cemetery.
Cephus Turner was born to Rufus and Nettie Ponder Turner on August 14, 1935, in Byromville, Georgia. In 1958, he relocated to St. Petersburg, Florida, where he worked for the City of St. Petersburg before joining Lew Brothers Furniture Company, where he later retired. He was a proud member of Joshua 105 Lodge, I.F. & A.M. Masons, and O.E.S.
A devoted and loving husband, father, brother, uncle, and friend, Cephus found joy in gardening, baking, barbecuing, fishing, dancing, and spending quality time with family and friends.
On Sunday, September 29, 2024, Cephus Turner passed away at the Bayside Rehabilitation Center in St. Petersburg, Florida. He now joins his parents, Rufus and Nettie Turner, along with his brothers Alvin, Rufus Jr., James, and Allen Turner, and his sisters Nora Winslow, Emma Sutton, and Sarah Lou West.
The family he leaves to cherish his memories include: his loving wife, Ruby Turner, Sarasota Florida; his children: two daughters: Cynthia Espuet aka "Bootsy" and Annette Jones (Eric), a son Mason (Marla) Haynes all reside in St. Petersburg, FL; and a stepson Bernard Manigo who resides in Virginia. Grandchildren: Cameron, Khortny, Ashley, Aniya, Erica, Eric and seven great-grandchildren who all reside in St. Petersburg, FL; his siblings David Turner (Ann), Byromville, GA, Annie Dean Sutton (Othalee), Unadilla, GA, and Nettie Maude Legree, Rochester, NY; A host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and many other relatives and lifelong friends and neighbors.
