Mrs. Carolyn Jackson Hicks of 2106 Seventh Street, Cordele, Georgia died Thursday, June 9, 2022 at Pruitt Health-Ashburn in Ashburn, Georgia.

The funeral service will be held Saturday, June 18, 2022 at 11:00 AM at the J. W. Williams Funeral Home Porte Cochere in Cordele, Georgia.  The burial will follow at the Bethel Cemetery in Cordele, Georgia.  Everyone in attendance is asked to please wear a mask and to practice social distancing.

On October 22, 1940, Ms. Fannie Jackson was blessed with birth of daughter who she lovingly named, Carolyn.  Carolyn was born in Cordele, Crisp County, Georgia.

As a child she lived in Belle Glade, Florida.  After returning to Cordele, she attended Gillespie-Selden Institute.

Early in life she accepted Christ as her personal Savior and united with the Mount Calvary Baptist Church where she served as an Usher.  She later joined the New Oak Grove Baptist Church under the leadership of Reverend W. W. Wilson.

On July 19, 2003, Carolyn was joined in holy matrimony to Mr. Cladis Hicks.  They shared their lives together until his passing on March 12, 2018.

She loved to cook and loved visiting and being around people.  Her heart was especially filled with love for children, she was a great babysitter.

On Thursday, June 9, 2022, she said goodbye to the cares of this life.  Along with her mother and her husband, she is preceded in death by her brother, Mr. William Jackson.

Her life and her love will forever be cherished by her loving and devoted daughter, Ms. Constance J. James of Cordele, Georgia; a beloved grandson, Mr. Rodney James of Cordele, Georgia; her great grandchildren, Toshianna, Anquatavious, Kari, Santaevian, Ashanti, Algernay, and Shierra; 10 great, great grandchildren; her niece and nephews, Ms. Anita Jackson Williams, Mr. Frederick Jackson, Sr., and Mr. Scottie Jackson all of Cordele, Georgia; her in-laws, Mrs. Verna H. Jefferson of Atlanta, Georgia, Mrs. Beatrice Henderson and Mrs. Cassie (Roy) Johnson both of Los Angeles, California, Ms. Peggy Hicks of Sui Sun City, California, Mr. William Hicks and Mr. Donald Hicks both of Atlanta, Georgia, Mrs. Clarandar Hicks of Cordele, Georgia and Mrs. Margaret Hicks of Atlanta, Georgia; a host of other relatives and many sorrowing friends, to include Mrs. Minnie Fletcher, Ms. Beryl   Patrick, Mrs. Brenda Oliver, Ms. Mary Appling, and Deacon & Mrs. Bobby James.
