Obituary

Ms. Birdie Jean Coleman of Mableton, Georgia died Saturday, March 5, 2022 at her residence.

The funeral service will be held Saturday, March 12, 2022 at 1:00 PM at the J. W. Williams Funeral Home Porte Cochere in Cordele, Georgia.  The burial will follow at the Vienna City Cemetery in Vienna, Georgia.  Everyone in attendance is asked to please wear a mask and to practice social distancing.

Ms. Birdie Jean Coleman was born May 28, 1953 in Pinehurst, Dooly County, Georgia.  She was born to the late Mrs. Carrie Lee Jenkins and was affectionately known as "Sapphire," "Granny," and "Far Fat."

Early in her life, she accepted Christ as her personal Savior.  Her education began at the Byromville Elementary School in Byromville, Georgia.  She continued her education at Vienna High School where she graduated in May of 1973.

Ms. Birdie Coleman was employed by Delta Airlines for 16 years until her retirement in November of 2005.  Too busy to sit still, she re-entered the workforce as a Housekeeper for Mercy Housing.  She continued her sound work ethics and loyalty to her employer for nine years.

A homebody, she loved her television shows, General Hospital, Law and Order , First 48 , and Buried in the Backyard .  She loved holiday dinners and making sure you didn't have more food on your plate than she had on hers.

Jean lived her life to the fullest always working hard, yet  seldomly playing hard.  She transitioned from her temporary residence to her eternal home on Saturday, March 5, 2022.  Her daughter, Juliet Montford also precedes her in death.

Cherished memories of her life will forever be in the hearts of her daughter, Ms. Carlanette A. Harvey of Mableton, Georgia; her son, Mr. Anthony Green and his wife, Mrs. Akehba Green of Atlanta, Georgia; her beloved grandchildren and great grandchildren; her sisters, Mrs.  Annie Ruth Jordan of Vienna, Georgia, Mrs. Mary Lee Bradley, Ms. Allberry Jenkins, Ms. Rosa Lee Jenkins, and Mrs. Betty Jo Johnson all of Miami, Florida; a brother, Mr. Robert Jenkins, Jr. of Miami, Florida; a host of nieces and nephews; many cousins, other relatives and many sorrowing friends.
