Mr. Billy Jack Alexander, Sr. of 608 East 20th Avenue, Cordele, Georgia, died Wednesday, March 4, 2026, at the Crisp Regional Hospital in Cordele, Georgia.
The funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 14, 2026, at 10:00 AM in the sanctuary of the Mount Calvary Baptist Church in Cordele, Georgia. The burial, with military honors, will follow at the Westview Cemetery in Cordele, Georgia.
United States Army Veteran Billy Jack Alexander, Sr. was born to the parentage of the late J. B. Alexander and Wilma Robinson on October 12, 1945. He completed his earthly journey on March 4, 2026.
He received his formal education in the Crisp County School System, where he was a proud 1964 Golden Ram graduate of A. S. Clark High School. Upon graduation, he entered the United States Army, where he served two tours of duty in Vietnam and Germany, as well as stateside. He was a proud veteran who sacrificed and served his country faithfully with pride, dignity, and honor. That spirit of serving others remained with him throughout his life.
Upon returning home, he continued to serve his community by becoming a police officer with the City of Cordele. Though he held other job titles, his most cherished was working at the St. Paul Day Care and Learning Center. He loved children and they loved him right back. He was affectionately known as "Mr. Billy". His camaraderie with the staff and children was shown each and everyday in his boundless spirit of giving. He will be missed.
Along with his parents, Billy Jack was preceded in death by his loving wife, Elizabeth Keaton Wiley Alexander; brother, Benny Alexander, Sr. and sister, Regina Gowens.
Left to cherish his memories are four devoted sons, Billy (Rachel) Alexander, Jr. of Gainesville, Georgia, Jeffrey Alexander of Cordele, Georgia, Vincent Wiley of Macon, Georgia and Jermel Wiley of Hinesville, Georgia; his grandchildren, Marquis Sherman of Warner Robins, Georgia, Corinthian Alexander and Jeremiah Alexander of Maple Shade, New Jersey, Nehemiah Alexander and Isaiah Alexander of Bensalem, Pennsylvania, Eric Jackson of Cordele, Georgia, Ja'maya Lee of Warner Robins, Georgia, Mycah Alexander of Decatur, Georgia, Ahjournii Alexander, Emily Alexander, and Yosef Alexander of Gainesville, Georgia, Jeffrela Alexander Faith Alexander, and Jasean Wiley of Cordele, Georgia and JJ Gorman of New Mexico, TaShauna Wiley, and Kesharah Wiley of Vienna, Georgia, and Khymelis Wiley of Hinesville, Georgia, Jamaryia Riley, Matthew Risby, Dylan Lavant, and Michael Risby all of Gainesville, Georgia; eight great grandchildren; four brothers, Bob T. Alexander of Detroit, Michigan, Dennis Rollins of Atlanta, Georgia, Wayne Rollins of Orlando, Florida and Ray (Linda) Rollins of Cordele, Georgia; one sister, Jacqueline Alexander of Detroit, Michigan; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and many sorrowing friends to include, Jacqueline Nelson-Hill, Cassie Alexander, Adrian West and Mary Prince.
