Mrs. Betty Jean Worth Zanders of 108 Foster Street, Desoto, Georgia, died on Monday, June 1, 2026, at the Lillian Carter Nursing Center in Plains, Georgia.

The funeral service will be held on Saturday, June 6. 2026 at 1:00 PM at the Eastview Cemetery Pavilion in Americus, Georgia.

Our beloved, Betty Jean Worth Zanders was born on December 8, 1949, in Sumter County, Georgia, to the loving parentage of the late Lucious and Oris Worth.

She received her early education in the public schools of   Sumter County, attending Union High School. Demonstrating a lifelong commitment to growth, she later graduated from South Georgia Technical College, where she proudly earned her GED.

At an early age, Betty confessed her faith in Christ and joined the fellowship of Perry Grove Baptist Church. Later in life, she moved her membership to Anointed Heart Outreach Ministry, where she continued to grow in grace. She truly loved the Lord and found immense joy in helping others along life's journey.

Known for her bright spirit, Betty cherished her family above all else. She had a wonderful sense of humor, loved telling jokes, and brought the gift of laughter to everyone she met.

On Monday, June 1, 2026, Betty peacefully transitioned from labor to reward, leaving a legacy of love, joy, and  kindness.  In addition to her beloved parents, Betty was reunited in eternity with her beloved husband, John Zanders, Sr., her loving sisters, Barbara Ann Worth and  Bobbie Jean Worth, and her cherished daughter-in-law, Ranetta Zanders

Precious and lasting memories will forever be treasured by her loving and  devoted children, Pamela (Derrick) Smith of Smithville, Georgia, John (Angela) Zanders, Jr. of Americus, Georgia, Dexter Zanders of Americus, Georgia, and Trynesa (Kelvin) Jackson of DeSoto, Georgia; 15 beloved grandchildren; a host of great-grandchildren; her sister, Odessa Holley of Leslie, Georgia; her brothers, Silas (Gwen) Worth and Otha (Lavern) Worth, both of Rochester, New York; four sisters-in-law; two brothers-in-law; her special friends, Purnella Barron of Buena Vista, Georgia, Annie Smith of Warner Robins, Georgia, Lawrence Williams and Dorothy Davis of Leslie, Georgia; a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins, and many sorrowing friends.
