Mrs. Betty Jean Owens White of 1116 Blackshear Road, Cordele, Georgia passed away Thursday, December 19, 2024, in Newnan, Georgia.
The funeral service will be held Sunday, December 29, 2024, at 12:00 Noon in the chapel of the J. W. Williams Funeral Home in Cordele, Georgia. The burial will follow at the Sunnyside Cemetery in Cordele, Georgia.
Everyone entering the funeral home for visitations or services must wear a mask and practice social distancing. A mask must be worn throughout the stay. You must supply your mask.
Our beloved, Mrs. Betty Jean Owens White, was born on September 20, 1934 in Hawkinsville, Pulaski County, Georgia to the loving parentage of Willie Owens, Sr. and Carrie Mae Laidler Owens. She traded the cares of this life for the joy of the promised rest on Thursday, December 19, 2024.
Educated in Pulaski County's public schools, Betty Jean was a devoted believer in Jesus Christ. Before declining health prevented her from doing so, she attended the Church of Christ in Cordele, Georgia.
She shared a beautiful life with her beloved husband, Steve White, Jr., and was cherished as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. Betty's big smile lit up the lives of all who knew her. Her smile, kindness and gentle spirit will forever be cherished
Her beloved Steve, along with her children, Steven Dennis White, Darren Steven White, Mary Denise White, Johnny Ray Owens, and Shelia Owens, precede her in death. Her siblings, Annie Liza Sims, Willie Owens, Jr., John Henry Owens, Aggie Jones Howell, Clarence Owens, Shirley Harris, Elijah Owens, Carrie Mae Salter, Sammy Owens, Robert Owens, and Margaret Key, also precede her in death.
Betty's warm smile brought joy to all who crossed her path. Her acts of kindness and gentle nature will always be cherished by her children, Barbara (Leroy) McElvleen of Lake City, South Carolina, Yvonne (Bobby) James of Newnan, Georgia, David White, Sr. of Cordele, Georgia, and Beaufort (Janet) White of Passaic, New Jersey; 22 grandchildren, to include, Visha (Sheldon) Gross of Newnan, Georgia, James (Makida) Harrell of Grove Port, Ohio, LaShanda Pounds of Cordele, Georgia, Desmond Owens, Brandon Owens, LaTisha White and Sheri Witcher of Atlanta, Georgia, Jennifer White of Passaic, New Jersey, Leroy McElvleen, Jr. and Lennice (Kelvin) Adams both of Lake City, South Carolina; 33 great grandchildren; her sisters, Mary Clark and Marlyn Whitehead both of Hawkinsville, Georgia; her brothers, Maurice Felder of Hawkinsville, Georgia and Eugene (Denise) Clark of Eastman, Georgia; a host of nieces and nephews, to include Levi Holton of Cordele, Georgia and David (Nicole) Battle of Lawrenceville, Georgia; a host of other relatives and friends.
