Ms. Bessie Mae Floyd better known as "Lois" of 507 West 5th Avenue, Cordele, Georgia died Tuesday, September 20, 2022 at her residence.

The funeral service will be held Sunday, September 25, 2022 at 1:00 PM at the J. W. Williams Funeral Home Porte Cochere in Cordele, Georgia.  The burial will follow at the Pleasant Hill Church Cemetery, Hatley Community, Cordele, Georgia.  Everyone in attendance is asked to please wear a mask and to practice social distancing.

Ms. Bessie Mae Floyd was born November 1, 1958 in Butler, Georgia.  She was affectionately known to everyone as "Lois."  She was born to the late Mr. Charlie Lee Floyd and the late Mrs. Verna Mae Heath Floyd.

Lois received her education from the public school system.  She completed her high school education at the Wilcox County High School.

Early in life she accepted Christ and united with the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, Hatley Community, Cordele, Georgia.

Anyone who knew Lois would attest to the fact that she was a hard worker.  Over the years, she has worked for Quality Dry Cleaners and Georgia Pacific.  For 18 years she was employed by the Georgia Department of Agriculture and spent five years employed by Crisp County Hospital.  She also worked independently performing professional cleaning services.

Lois was always about family, she enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and she definitely took pride in spoiling them.  When not working, she enjoyed cooking.  She will forever be remembered as a very neat, clean and "picky" person.   She also enjoyed joy riding, playing Spades, and traveling the to the casinos.

On Tuesday, September 20, 2022, the one we considered the "glue" to the family peacefully slipped away.  While she will forever be missed we are comforted that she is at peace and with her loved ones who have gone on:  her parents and her brothers, Mr. Charlie Lee (Susan) Floyd, Jr., Mr. Johnny Lee Floyd, Mr. Henry Lee Floyd, and Mr. Tommy (Judgie Mae) Floyd, Sr.

Her life and memory will forever live in the hearts of  her loving and devoted companion, Mr. Willie James Sheppard of Cordele, Georgia; her loving and devoted children, Mr. Tommy Floyd, Jr., Mr. Tommy Floyd, III, Miss Tommyia Floyd, Miss Tommaria Floyd, Mr. Tommarcus Floyd, and Mr. Tommariun Floyd all of Cordele, Georgia, Ms. Alexis Dunn Floyd of Atlanta, Georgia, and Miss Janiah Ward of Cordele, Georgia; six grandchildren; one great grandchild; her beloved brothers, Mr. Willie Gene (Lester Mae) Floyd of Cordele, Georgia, Mr. Jessie (Alphia) Floyd of McDonough, Georgia, and Mr. Frank (Chanel) Floyd of Atlanta, Georgia; her loving sisters, Mrs. Charlene Floyd (Eugene) Dozier of Thomaston, Georgia, Ms. Sue Kelley of Cordele, Georgia, and Mrs. Lula Frances McDuffy of Albany, Georgia; her aunts and uncles, Mr. Henry (Edna) Carter and Ms. Minnie Pearl Brown both of Pitts, Georgia, Ms. Elizabeth Brown and Ms. Louise Heath both Dade City Florida, Mrs. Mary Floyd of Ashburn, Georgia, Mr. James (Bessie) Floyd and Mr. Eddie (Lou) Floyd both of Cordele, Georgia, Mr. Robert (Linda) Floyd of Atlanta, Georgia, Mr. Wilson Floyd of Warner Robins, Georgia, and Ms. Ann Floyd of Montezuma, Georgia; a host of nieces, nephews and cousins, to include, Ms. Rhonda Ann Floyd of Atlanta, Georgia,  Mrs. Pearlie West of Fitzgerald, Georgia, Ms. Linda Gibson of Rochelle, Georgia, Ms. Mariah Wilson, Ms. Shonte Armstrong, Ms. Yalonda Hoskins, and Mr. K'oury Fullwood all of Cordele, Georgia, Ms. Olivia Glenn, Mr. Kammari Glenn, and Miss Mileah Price, Miss Akia Olds, Ms. Sankia Olds and Mr. Matthew Pettus; other relatives and many sorrowing friends, to include, Ms. Pamela Godbee, Myra, and the Dean Family all of Macon, Georgia.
