Mrs. Bernice Greene Monts of 168 Grover Street, Americus, Georgia died Monday, June 26, 2023 at the Phoebe-Sumter Medical Center in Americus, Georgia.
The funeral service will be held Saturday, July 1, 2023 at 3:30 PM in the sanctuary of the Friendship Baptist Church in Americus, Georgia. The burial will follow at Staley Memorial Garden in Americus, Georgia.
Mrs. Bernice Greene Monts was born June 15, 1974 in Sumter County, Georgia to the parentage of Edward and Jennie Mae Greene. On September 18, 1998, she was united in Holy Matrimony to Keith Maurice Monts.
She was reared and nurtured in a Christian home. She enjoyed cooking, singing and loving people. She was no stranger to those she met.
Bernice gave her life to Christ at the early age of 11, when she joined the Old Corinth Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Reverend Napoleon Prince. She sang in the Senior Choir.
Her education career began at Northeast Elementary School and continued in the Sumter County School System graduating in 1994.
Her employment included Magnolia Manor, Americus Times Recorder and Sumter County School System.
She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents: Mr. William Eugene Harris and Mrs. Elssie Mae Holt Harris; paternal grandparents: Mr. John L. Greene and Mrs. Archie Bell Greene; a daughter, Marquesha Lyn Greene; two uncles: Mr. John L. Greene, Jr. and Mr. Curtis Greene; three aunts: Mrs. Geneva Lusane, Ms. Elizabeth Greene and Ms. Geraldine Holt.
Her legacy of love, laughter, and caring spirit will forever be cherished by her family: her husband of 24 years, Mr. Keith Monts; her parents: Mr. Edward & Mrs. Jennie Mae Harris Greene; two brothers, Mr. Marquious O'Neal (Elizabeth) Greene and Mr. Lyn Edward (Jennifer) Greene; her mother-in-love, Ms. Mae Dawson; one niece, Londyn Greene; a niece-in-love, Ms. Yolanda Faye Monts; her aunts, Mrs. Pamela (Willie) Bryant, Mrs. Penny (Kenneth) Mallory, Ms. Mary Brown, Mrs. Amiah (William) Harris, Mrs. Juanita (Robert) Harvey, Mrs. Sandra (Dwight) Harris, Ms. Betty Greene, Mrs. Bertha (Marilyn) Smith, Mrs. Yvonne (Timothy) Sims, Mrs. Archie (Charles) Harris, Ms. Bobbie Ann Greene, Ms. Diane Furlow, Mrs. Amy (Roosevelt) Greene; her uncles, Mr. William Harris, Jr. Mr. Robert Harvey, Mr. Dwight Harris, Mr. Mr. Marilyn Smith, Mr. Timothy Sims, Mr. Charles Wallace Harris, Mr. Charlie (Yvette) Greene, and Mr. Roosevelt (Amy) Greene; a great aunt, Mrs. Meland Holt Hawkins; her god grandmothers, Mrs. Mary Jo Rowell and Mrs. Janice Williams; a host of other relatives, friends, co-workers and classmates, also survive.
