Mrs. Barbara Ann Laster Williams of 1306 North Mayo Street, Americus, Georgia died Sunday, March 17, 2024 at her residence.
The funeral service will be held Saturday, March 23, 2024 at 3:30 PM in the sanctuary of the Friendship Baptist Church in Americus, Georgia. The burial will follow at the Eastview Cemetery in Americus, Georgia.
Mrs. Barbara Ann Laster Williams was born August 3, 1950 in Americus, Georgia to the parentage of the late Walter Laster and Essie Mae Mansfield Laster. She acquired her education from the Sumter County School System. Barbara later furthered her education at South Georgia Technical College. She was employed by the Davidson-Textron Company and Walmart. Barbara was united in holy matrimony to the late George Williams and their union was blessed with two children.
At an early age she joined the Green Grove Baptist Church under the leadership of Reverend Ulysee Brown. Later, Barbara joined the Big Bethel Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Reverend Calvin Rollins, Sr. There she served faithfully as an usher. She later reunited with the Green Grove Baptist Church under the leadership of Reverend Mireo Harris.
On Sunday, March 17, 2024, Barbara transitioned from this life to life eternal. Five of her siblings also precede her in death: Mark Laster, Willie Fred Laster, Walter Laster, Jr, Emma Jean Jones, and Willie Mae Hawkins. She was a lovely, humorous, sweet spirited, and caring mother to her children, grandchild, and others, as well.
She leaves to cherish her memories, two lovely daughters, La'Tarsha (Darren) Williams and Barbara (Jeff) Brown of Americus, Georgia; one brother, Willie James Laster (Chizua) of Americus, Georgia; one adorable grandchild, Kayla Watts of Americus, Georgia; two sisters, Betty Jean Laster Carter and Essie (McArthur) Sims of Americus, Georgia; two brothers-in-law, Frank Williams and Norman Williams of Plains, Georgia; a host of nieces, nephews, caring friends, and other relatives survive.
