Obituary

Mrs. Annie Mae Lundy Wilkerson, of 1417 Norris Street, Americus Georgia died Friday, June 24, 2022, in Savannah Georgia.

The funeral service will be held Friday, July 1, 2022 at 9:30 AM in the sanctuary of the Restoration Church of Americus in Americus, Georgia.  The burial will follow at the Andersonville National Cemetery in Andersonville, Georgia.  Everyone in attendance is asked to please wear a mask and to practice social distancing.

Annie Mae Lundy Wilkerson (affectionately known as "Sunshine") was born May 25, 1952 to John Lundy, Sr. and Lucy Lundy in Americus, Georgia. She received her education in the public school system in Americus. After completing high school, Annie married the love of her life, Mr. William Wilkerson, Jr. and to this union, two beautiful baby girls were born. She traveled with her husband across the globe as he faithfully served his country as a soldier in the United States Army. She furthered her education at South Georgia Tech completing courses to become a Certified Nursing Assistant. For many years, she worked at Triangle Home Products and the Magnolia Manor. Annie was a great cook, loved to dance and was kind to everyone she met. She loved her family especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren!

Annie was preceded in death by her husband, William "Dat" Wilkerson; parents, John and Lucy Lundy; grandparents, John Thomas and Emma Ingram; and two  siblings: Bennie "Bull" Lundy and Mary Hatcher.

She leaves her memories to be cherished by her daughters: LaShunda Renae Wilkerson, Savannah, Georgia and Kisa Wilkerson-High, Warner Robins, Georgia; grandchildren: Bernard Wilkerson (Tonya), Savannah, Georgia; Nikiya Lloyd-Scales (Delvin), Albany, Georgia; Tanika High (Ja'Darrien), Atlanta, Georgia; Tyria High, Montgomery,   Alabama; great-grandchildren: Bernard Wilkerson, Jr., Delvin Scales, Jr., and Kaneria Scales; siblings: John Lundy, Jr., Passaic, New Jersey; Lucy Prince, East Hartford, Connecticut; Charlie James Lundy (Darlene), Newington, Connecticut; Henry Patterson, Americus, Georgia; Devorah Johnson (Lewis), East Hartford, Connecticut; Cynthia Lundy, East Hartford, Connecticut; a host of nieces and nephews; a devoted niece, Carmen Birdsong;  her devoted cousins: Florine Johnson, Virginia "Tiny" Harvey, Patricia Josey, Pearline Walker, Rita Ingram, and Sherrand Manigault; a devoted friend, Mary Smith; a host of other  relatives and  friends.

She is now having a good time with her favorite cousins: Yvonne Ingram Thompson and Dorothy Walker and fussing with her husband, Dat ("and Dat said that!")
