United States Army Veteran, Mr. Alfred Leon Fenn of 3668 Fay Drive, Rex, Georgia died Thursday, January 27, 2022 at the Southern Regional Medical Center in Riverdale, Georgia.
The graveside funeral service, with military honors, will be held Saturday, February 5, 2022 at 2:00 PM at the Bethel Cemetery in Cordele, Georgia. Everyone in attendance is asked to please wear a mask and to practice social distancing.
Alfred Leon Fenn, age 62, was born in Cordele, Georgia on December 7, 1959 to Nathaniel and Lonza Mae Fenn and was the second the second of 6 children.
He attended Crisp County School system during his primary years and later moved to Atlanta, Georgia where he attended Walter F. George High School and graduated in 1979.
Alfred was enlisted in the United States Army from 1980 through 1984. He completed basic training at Fort Jackson, SC. His specialty was communications, and he was assigned to Germany as his primary duty station and received an honorable discharge. Alfred developed a skill set for laying tile where he crafted his art in single-family homes, apartments, and office buildings.
Growing up, Alfred was known as Mr. Clean, Truck, Fred, and Preacher. He acknowledged Jesus Christ at an early age where he sang in the choir of Beautiful Zion Baptist Church. Alfred will be fondly remembered as someone that was outgoing, did not meet any strangers, and left a lasting impression on many. He had a smile that would light up any room. Alfred enjoyed the simplest pleasures in life, and his pleasant personality was contagious to everyone he met.
On Thursday, January 27, 2022, our loved one, Alfred, slipped away due to illness. Alfred was the second of 6 children. Alfred was preceded in death by his father, Nathaniel Fenn and 1 grandson. He leaves to cherish his devoted and loving mother Lonza Fenn, his daughter Delicia Fenn, 1 grandson, brothers - Alvin Fenn and Johnathan Fenn, sisters – Teresa (Robin) Bess, Judith (Victor) Lanier, and Nicole Webb, 7 Nephews (Victor Lanier II (Marissa), Marcus Bess, Marlon Lanier, Johnathan Fenn Jr., Joshua Lanier, Keynon Webb, Jr., and Jacquez Bray) and 6 nieces (Dr. Courtney Bess, Lakerria Williams, Jasmine (Quari) Cohen, Breana Bess, and Olivia Pacheco). A devoted uncle Jerry Dowdell, several uncles, aunts, cousins, and host of friends; who at the mention of Alfred's name, shared a cheerful reminiscence of the times they spent together.
