U. S. Air Force Veteran, Mr. Alfonso Clark of 705 North Joe Wright Drive, Cordele, Georgia died Monday, July 28, 2014 at his residence.

The funeral service will be Monday, August 4, 2014 at 11:00 a. m. in the sanctuary of the Greater Morris Tabernacle Baptist Church, 701 North Joe Wright Drive, Cordele, Georgia. The burial, with military honor, will follow in the Veteran's Section of Bethel Cemetery in Cordele, Georgia.

On December 11, 1946, our beloved Alfonso Clark was welcomed to this world by his beloved parents, the late Mr. Curtis Clark and the late Mrs. Candies Brannon Everett. Born in Crisp County, Georgia, he was affectionately known by his nickname, “Blue.”

As a child he accepted Christ and united with the Greater Morris Tabernacle Baptist Church. As an adult, he served as a member of the Brotherhood Ministry.

A product of the Crisp County School System, he was a proud 1964 graduate of the A. S. Clark High School. Upon the completion of high school, he enlisted in the United States Air Force. He served his country with honor and distinction from 1964 - 1971. During his tour of duty, he served two years in Vietnam and earned numerous commendations and medals. He earned the rank of Sergeant before receiving an Honorable discharge.

“Blue” was employed by Crisp Regional Hospital where he worked in the Environmental Service Department for several years. He was later employed by Wal-Mart as a member of its Environmental Service Department.

On Monday, July 28, 2014, with the calmness of a peaceful breeze, he quietly slipped away to be with the Lord. Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his brothers, Mr. Roosevelt Clark and Mr. Robert Clark.

Reflecting upon his life and his love are his loving and caring children, Mr. Allen L. Clark, Sr. and his wife, Mrs. Tara Clark, Ms. Shelnita S. Clark, and Ms. Kiesha L. Lawrence all of Cordele, Georgia, and Mr. Kenno Z. Clark and his wife, Mrs. Monica Clark of Corona, California; 26 grandchildren; six great grandchildren; the mother of his children, Ms. Sarah Dixon of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; his loving sisters, Ms. Lorene Jackson-Skipwith of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Ms. Annie Clark of Spring Garden, New York, Ms. Debbie J. Lawton of Atlanta, Georgia, Ms. Dorothy Clark, Ms. Jacqueline Clark, and Ms. Shirley B. Cray all of Cordele, Georgia; a sister-in-law, Mrs. JoAnn Jackson Kerr of Cordele, Georgia; a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins, other relatives and many sorrowing friends, to include his special friends, Ms. Angelina Walker, Deacon James and Mrs. Lucille Harris, and Mr. Sam Brown.
